Plan-G / Flight Plan Ground Speeds
March 11, 2017, 12:54:06 AM
Hi Tim,

I'm using the aircraft profile function but it doesn't change the ground speed for each waypoint in the flight plan.  That stays at 120kts regardless of the speeds in the aircraft profile.  Is there a way to change the ground speeds for the waypoints in order that the flight plan shows representative waypoint times?

If its not currently possible, could this be added in a future version?

Regards
Graham

Resolved by installing v3.1.4 :).  Thanks for a great program and for the continued support of it.  Donation made in appreciation.

Plan-G / Plan-G not starting
February 19, 2017, 09:55:17 PM
Hi,

I have been using Plan-G v3.1.3.113 in Windows 7 for some time without problems, with P3D running in Windows 7 on a separate PC (but Plan-G not connected to P3D).  It was working OK earlier today until I shut down the PC without closing Plan-G.  After starting the PC again, when I click on the Plan-G start shortcut, a window flashes briefly showing PLAN 'G' v3.1.3 (w7, 8 ...) by Tim Arnot, etc., then this minimises to the task bar.  The Plannner and Information windows also flash briefly at the same time but Plan-G itself does not start.  If I then try to run it from the icon in the task bar I just get the same brief flash of the same windows.

I wondered if shutting down the PC without first closing windows had corrupted some thing so I uninstalled Plan-G, deleted all references to Plan-G in the registry, disabled anti-virus and re-installed v3.1.3.113 (using "Run as administrator) in C:\TA Software\Plan-G v3.1.3\.  Before doing this I I also renamed to C:\Users\Graham\My Documents\Plan-G\ folder to Plan-G (bak).

After this re-installation I still have the same problem.  Rebooting and trying again makes no difference. Disabling anti-virus makes no difference.

Without internet connected, the Plan-G_Log.txt file says the following:

Your help with this would be much appreciated.

P.S.  I have re-installed Plan-G a number of times but still unresolved.  Have also tried starting direct from the Plan-G3.exe file (using "Run as administrator") but no difference.

Plan-G / Re: Importing user waypoints
March 27, 2011, 11:34:41 AM
OK, I've fixed it :)

I saved my UserWaypoints.sdf then uninstalled and re-installed Plan-G.

With a virgin UserWaypoints.sdf I can import csv files no problem.

Using my saved UserWaypoints.sdf file I cannot import csv files, even though that UserWaypoint.sdf works fine otherwise in Plan-G.  It seems that adding user waypoints manually (by right clicking with the mouse) has had some adverse effect on the sdf file.

To get round this I did the following:

1.  Exported my UserWaypoints.sdf file to csv.

2.  Saved my UserWaypoints.sdf file and replaced it with the virgin UserWaypoints.sdf file.

3.  Imported my UserWaypoints.csv file.

4.  Imported the other csv files I wanted.

Thanks for your perserverence trying to answer this, Tim.

I hope this helps others with the same problem.

No, the log file doesn't show any error.  It just lists the waypoint (or waypoints) I'm trying to import then nothing else (as in the logfile I attached previously).

I've got Plan-G installed on a separate drive from the OS.  Would that make a difference?

Tim, thanks for your answers.  I understand what you're saying about that limitation and if it was only that I wouldn't have a problem with it.  But I can't get it to work whichever way I try.

After I deleted the one user waypoint, I clicked on OK to close the Manage User Waypoints.  Then I shut down Plan-G, started it up again and opened Manage User Waypoints to confirm I had deleted the user waypoint I exported.  I then tried to import the csv file I had just created and got the "Imported 0 of 1 records."  Clicked OK on that message, clicked OK to close Manage User Waypoints, then opened Manage user Waypoints and the waypoint had not imported.  Shut down Plan-G, opened Manage User Waypoints and the waypoint I tried to import still did not show.

Regardless of deleting and then re-importing, there's still the problem of not being able to import from any csv file.

You do have to close and reopen the dialog for them to show up, but that has always been the case.

Closing and re-opening the dialog still doesn't show what I'm trying to import.

I've just tried exporting one existing user waypoint to a csv file, deleted that user waypoint in Manage User Waypoints, then  tried to import that one user waypoint from the csv file I just created.  Same problem: "Imported 0 of 1 records."

The fact that I can't add a user waypoint manually in Manage User Waypoints (see my previous post) makes me think it may not be the csv files that are the problem.

Tim,

To add to this, I tried adding a user waypoint by typing the information into the bottom line of Manage User Waypoints, taking care to type it exactly the same way as one that was already in there, with a slightly different name and slightly different position.  Once it was typed, I clicked OK.  I then checked through to see if it was still there but it was not created.  The only way I can add a user waypoint is to create one using the right mouse button.

I wasn't sure whether to start another thread but I have exactly the smae problem so I hope it's OK to continue this here.

I'm using 493 but I haven't been able to import any csv files into Plan-G, even with previous versions.  I wasn't too bothered about it before, hence not trying to sort it out until now.

The Plan-G log file lists the imports and doesn't show an error (see attached).

Any help would be appreciated.

Plan-G / Heading Correction for Crosswind
March 15, 2011, 01:04:05 PM
Hi Tim,

Thanks very much for the update.  :)

Unless I doing something wrong, I think the calculation to correct the heading for a crosswind only works correctly for the default 100 knots airspeed.

When there is a crosswind, changing the airspeed should change the heading correction.  What I'm seeing in Plan-G is that changing the airspeed from the default 100 knots does not change the heading correction for the crosswind (it only changes the time).

This is with v2.0.5.492.  I don't know if this was the same in the previous versions.

Graham
